The Clone saga continues... to get more messed up each month. Peter Parker has been arrested for a murder that was actually committed by the mysterious new villain Kaine. Peter's clone, Ben Reilly, has given Peter the chance to clear his name by taking his place in jail (during THE MARK OF KAINE). Instead of finding Kaine, Peter's adopted Ben's Scarlet Spider identity and gotten himself distracted by Judas Traveller and the new Green Goblin.
Now Peter Parker's trial is about to begin, only with Ben Reilly taking the stand. And there are some big reveals to come...

Seeking revenge on Kaine for the death of her beloved Doctor Octopus, Stunner catches up with him as he battles Spidey. Suddenly, Judas Traveller arrives and teleports Spider-Man and Kaine away...

Spider-Man finds himself cuffed and chained in a makeshift court in the Ravencroft Institute for the Criminally Insane. Carnage stands for the prosecution, blaming Spider-Man for all the patients present at Ravencroft and unmasks him for all to see his true face. Kaine tries to defend Peter when the superpowered criminals launch in to attack him. But Traveller ends the assault, erasing the knowledge of Spider-Man's identity when he decides that he's proven himself to be truly noble. Before Spidey gets a chance to drag Kaine to the courthouse where Ben stands trial, Stunner returns and tries to kill Kaine...Spider-Man #60
Spider-Man beats Stunner and knocks Kaine out, webbing him up and dragging him to court. Before Kaine can allow Spidey to take him inside, he reveals himself to be a warped Peter Parker clone. Barging into court, Spider-Man comes close to revealing his identity to save Ben. Instead, Kaine confesses to the murders and claims to have tried to set Parker up. Then he decides it's time to kill Ben Reilly...

Kaine is subdued and arrested, but he's still experiencing visions of Mary Jane's impending death. The Jackal and the newest Peter Parker clone observe as the real Peter Parker goes free. Peter, Mary Jane and Ben visit Ben's friend, scientist Seward Trainer, who reveals he ran a test to discern the health of the Parker baby only to find out suggest Peter Parker is the clone. The discovery that Ben Reilly is the Peter Parker provokes Peter into attacking him. When Mary Jane steps in to stop him, Peter flashes out and strikes her. Guilty and confused, Peter runs away. Elsewhere, the Jackal gives the newest clone a job to do and a new costume...
