DAREDEVIL READING ORDER: Kingpin of Hell's Kitchen (2004-2006)

Since his secret identity become public knowledge, Matt Murdock's life has spiralled further and further down. Now he presides over Hell's Kitchen having proclaimed himself the new Kingpin. Has Daredevil crossed the line?

This entry wraps up Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev's stellar run on Daredevil as they drag Matt Murdock further into the New York underworld. There's a good reason why these comments have been heaped with praise and awards.

Daredevil #61-70 (2004-2005)
First appearance of Alexander Bont; first appearance of Angela del Toro as the White Tiger; he Black Widow turns to Daredevil for help when the US Government consider trading her for Madame Hydra; after facing off against Jigsaw, they're surprised to find out who's been behind the whole plot; Milla Donovan requests that her marriage to Matt Murdock is annulled; the Kingpin's predecessor Alexander Bont is released from prison and uses Gladiator in a plot to gain revenge on Daredevil; Agent Angela del Toro inherits the White Tiger Amulet.

Avengers #501-503 (2004)
Daredevil assists the Avengers when they face numerous major foes, all at once during AVENGERS DISASSEMBLED.

Daredevil #71-75 (2005)
In pursuit of a demon, Daredevil learns how the residents of Hell's Kitchen perceive him.

Black Widow: The Things They Say About Her #1 (2005)
Nick Fury tells Daredevil that the Black Widow is at the top of America's Most Wanted list and has fled to Cuba, accused of murdering the CEO of Gynacon.

Marvel Knights: Spider-Man #11 (2005)
Daredevil cameo; DD is among the heroes who come to Spider-Man's aid when he faces the Sinister Twelve.

Black Widow: The Things They Say About Her #2-6 (2005-2006)
Daredevil tracks down the Black Widow and helps clear her name.

Hercules #1 (2005)
Flashback: Daredevil attends the funeral of the deceased Avengers.

Daredevil & Captain America: Dead on Arrival #1 (2009)
The Death-Stalker jumps forward in time, going on a killing spree that's ended by Captain America and Daredevil before being brought back to his own time before the events of his death.

4 #13-14 (2004)
Daredevil cameos; Daredevil discovers the victims of the Puppet Master.
Wolverine #23-24 (2005)
First appearance of Elspeth von Strucker; Daredevil becomes the target of both Hydra and the Hand who send the brainwashed Wolverine to capture him and and him to their ranks; but it becomes apparent Daredevil was never the target after all during ENEMY OF THE STATE.

Secret War #3-5 (2004-2005)
Daredevil learns he was among a group of costumed heroes sent on a secret mission for SHIELD and then memory-wiped; Daredevil, Luke Cage, Captain America and the others confront their target Lucia von Barda and her army of villains, then turn against Nick Fury during SECRET WAR.

Mighty Avengers #12 (2008)
Daredevil cameo; Daredevil reacts to the destruction of the Nick Fury LMD during SECRET INVASION.

Great Lakes Avengers #2 (2005)
Daredevil cameo; DD rejects the offer to join the Great Lakes Avengers.
Daredevil: Redemption #6 (2005)
Seven years after a murder investigation in Alabama, Daredevil returns to learn the truth.

New Avengers #1-2 (2005)
First appearance of 'Spider-Woman'/'Jessica Drew'; Matt Murdock is presents while there's a breakout at the Raft prison; he fights alongside Captain America, Iron Man, Spider-Man, 'Jessica Drew', Luke Cage and the Sentry against the horde of escaping super-villains during BREAKOUT.

New Avengers #42 (2008)
Daredevil cameo; the Raft breakout is seen from the perspective of 'Jessica Drew' during SECRET INVASION.
New Avengers #3 (2005)
First appearance of 'Edwin Jarvis', the New Avengers and Stark Tower; the gathered heroes end the breakout, with Iron Man and Captain America calling them together to become a new line-up of Avengers; Matt Murdock turns down the offer during BREAKOUT.

Marvel Team-Up #9 (2005)
Daredevil and Luke Cage team up against Stilt-Man.

Marvel Team-Up #10[2/2] (2005)
Daredevil joins the fight against the cosmically-powered Ringmaster.

Captain Universe/Daredevil #1 (2006)
Daredevil gains the Uni-Power, transforming into Captain Universe and giving him the power to take on AIM during UNIVERSAL HEROES.

House of M #5-7 (2005)
Reality has been altered; Matt Murdock is brought back to his senses, realising that the world isn't as it should be and joins the fight against Magneto to set things right once more during HOUSE OF M.

New Avengers #11 (2005)
First appearance of Echo as Ronin; flashback: Matt Murdock discusses the issues around his secret identity to Captain America, explaining that he's unable to join the Avengers; Matt arranges for another ally who can aid the Avengers against the Silver Samurai.

Spider-Man and the Black Cat: The Evil That Men Do #4-6 (2006)
Spider-Man convinces Daredevil to help him break the Back Cat out of prison.
Daredevil vs Punisher: Means and Ends #1-6(pp.1-17) (2005-2006)
Hammerhead, the Jackal and more notorious villains make their bid to take Daredevil's territory following the fall of the Kingpin; Daredevil fights to stop the bloodshed in Hell's Kitchen, but the Punisher takes the opportunity to take these criminals out permanently.

Thing #3 (2006)
Matt Murdock visits Alicia Masters to give her a gift, knowing he's about to go away for a while.

Daredevil vs Punisher: Means and Ends #6(pp.18-22) (2006)
Daredevil learns the Punisher has been sentenced following the war in Hell's Kitchen.
Daredevil #76-81 (2005-2006)
The Kingpin offers proof that Matt Murdock is Daredevil to the FBI; Matt tries to reconcile with Milla Donovan; Angela del Toro quits the FBI; friends and foes come out to fight for the Kingpin's evidence, which brings Daredevil out into the open; awaiting trial, Matt Murdock is sent to jail along with the Kingpin.

White Tiger #1-3, 5-6 (2007)
No Matt Murdock appearance; first appearance of Cobra/Piet Vorhees; Angela del Toro fully accepts her new role as the White Tiger and receives unwelcome advice from 'Daredevil', despite knowing Matt Murdock is in jail; the Black Widow helps White Tiger choose a costume; with occasional help from 'Daredevil', the White Tiger opposes the Yakuza, the Lizard, Omega Red and the new Cobra.

Pulse #13 (2006)
'Daredevil' cameo; Phil Urich calls on 'Daredevil' to help a very confused D-Man during HAPPILY EVER AFTER.

Friendly-Neighborhood Spider-Man #2 (2006)
'Daredevil' cameo; having learned he's about to die, Spider-Man almost beats the Ox to death; 'Daredevil' steps in and stops Spider-Man from crossing that line during THE OTHER: EVOLVE OR DIE.
