AVENGERS READING ORDER: New Avengers (2004-2006)

The Avengers face the worst day in their history when one of their own turns against. Despite the team initially disassembling, the events of this attack lead to the formation of a team of 'New Avengers' that includes many characters who've never been members before. From banner names like Spider-Man and Wolverine, to lower tier characters like Luke Cage and Spider-Woman, these would be the Avengers for the new millennium and thrust the team into the spotlight once again.

Writer Brian Michael Bendis would be joined by a number of top-tier artists on the series as Marvel brought the Avengers to prominence once more. From 2005 to 2010, the Marvel Universe as a whole was largely driven by storylines spinning out of New Avengers. From HOUSE OF M to CIVIL WAR, SECRET INVASION to SIEGE. And this is where it all begins.

For this 'recommended reading' guide, I've also included stories that influence the events in the lives of Earth's new mightiest heroes. Captain America first interacts with the deadly Winter Soldier, Thor falls with Ragnarok, Wolverine's search for the truth about his past uncovers a recurring foe who'll eventually join the Dark Avengers and more. This was one of the greatest periods in Marvel history and is a huge influence on the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I'm hoping to cover it in no more than three chapters.
