Iron Man confronts Warbird (Carol Danvers) about her showing up drunk on Avengers missions, revealing to her that he's recovering alcoholic Tony Stark. Warbird rejects his help. Later, Tony looks into the company Powersource and their connections with the new Firebrand as well as the mystery foe who's out to get him. Warbird shows up drunk, spoiling for a fight and accidentally unearths Powersource's dealings with the Kree terrorists, the Lunatic Legion who send a robotic Sentry to keep Iron Man busy. Warbird gives chase, completely ignoring the danger Powersource's employees are in. Iron Man steps in to save tem. Powersource find themselves under investigation.

Warbird puts out a call to Captain America for help as she's captured by the Lunatic Legion who have plans for her human/Kree hybrid genetic code. When Cap frees Warbird, he discovers a concentration camp filled with human victims of Kree experiments. The enormous Kree Bron Char batters Cap's temporary shield into an unusable state. The Legion make their escape. Having learned nothing and desperate to impress Cap, Warbird gives chase and ends up getting captured all over again. Captain America s left to help the kidnapped humans...
Quicksilver accompanies the Scarlet Witch and Hawkeye on a mission to the Moon's blue area to rescue Warbird. They're faced with the Supreme Intelligence who's working against the Lunatic Legion. Quicksilver frees Warbird who sneaks off and necks a big jug of Kree booze and comes back hammered. The team stop this part of the Legion's plan but Warbird's drunken state facilitates the Legion's escape while her fellow Avengers almost get sucked into space. The Lunatic Legion move on with their plan to use stolen Terrigen Mists, data on Warbird's hybrid nature and an Omni-Wave Projector to mutate the population of Earth into full-blooded Kree. Those who don't mutate will die.

The Avengers head to the Moon in a Quinjet to investigate a tip on the Lunatic Legion and are attacked by an army of Kree militants. The Kree allow themselves to be sucked into the Omni-Wave Projector, sacrificing themselves for the greater good. Thor opens a portal to send the projector through, but Galen-Kor uses a Kree Universal Weapon to take him down. As the portal closes, Firestar recharges it and Justice telekinetically hurls the projector in, saving the Earth.
