X-FORCE READING ORDER: Uncanny X-Force (2010-2013)

A rarity in modern mainstream comics, Rick Remender's Uncanny X-Force is a series that pretty much stands comfortably alone. It's especially rare for an X-Men spin-off. But the nature of Wolverine's new black ops X-Force team is to stay so far below the radar that no one ever finds out they exist. Despite this, nothing happens in a vacuum and the effect of the team's murderous missions starts to have an effect on their lives in the outside world. As cool as the series itself is, the primary message is that killing causes its own problems. Death starts to affect the members of X-Force on every level, especially Archangel who actually becomes Death again and something far, far worse. Even the unhinged Deadpool is disturbed by the team's first mission, so you know you're heading into some dark, dark territory.

This reading order contains every appearance of the members of X-Force (including all the various team books Wolverine appears in) in chronological order with the spotlight on the stories that directly impact X-Force or X-Force directly impact. There's the occasional appearance where two members of the team will appear together, but not mention X-Force. There are Wolverine's interactions with his psychotic son Daken, the effect of the Dark Angel Saga on the Jean Grey School For Higher Learning, the fate of Tabula Rasa and Deadpool's efforts to end his life with X-Force's help. But really you don't need to read any of that. Just stick to the Uncanny X-Force series and have a blast.

You don't even need to read any past X-Force stories for this to make sense. If you really want to dive into Angel's transformation into Death during THE FALL OF THE MUTANTS, the Reavers almost killing the X-Men during DISSOLUTION & REBIRTH, Psylocke caging the Shadow King during PSI-WAR or the birth of THE AGE OF APOCALYPSE then go for it. But you don't need to and you'll soon pick it up if it's new to you.
