HOUSE OF M (2005-2006)

The Scarlet Witch has had a tough life. Over the years, she's subverted by Chthon, found out her twin sons were fragments of Master Pandemonium's soul, lost them both, seen her synthezoid husband dismantled and been manipulated by her father, Magneto. When she finally snapped, she destroyed the Avengers (during AVENGERS DISASSEMBLED). Magneto took her to Genosha to help her recover, but so far he's failed. Now, his failure and her state of mind could threaten all reality...

If it's your first time reading House of M, I'd recommend sticking the eight-issue 'House of M' series rather than slotting in all the tie-in issues as well. They're largely unnecessary and seriously disrupt the flow of the story.

As usual, I've asterisked the key stories, but the ones outside of the main limited series either add a little more explanation to the world-building (like Black Panther's story), have an actual effect on the characters in mainstream continuity (like Captain Britain's mission to save reality) and are just cool, fun comics (like the Exiles' journey through the multiverse). Most of the other tie-ins are forgettable and have little bearing on continuity.

If you've read the main storyline before and you want to read it in order, tie-ins and all... hey! Go for your life!
Previous events that directly impact this story:
Major Event: With a main mini-series, multiple tie-in mini-series and one-shts as well as issues of ongoing titles impacted by the storyline, 'House of M' is a major event. The issues marked with an asterisk are the essential chapters. If you don't want to read every tie-in and only want to pick up those key chapters, they're the issues to go for.
