GET DOWN, AMERICA! (1976-1977)

Still adjusting to being stranded in a world of 'hairless apes', Howard the Duck has just narrowly escaped being eaten by a Gingerbread Man. Now, he and his... close, personal friend Beverly Switzler are about to become involved in something far more deadly: politics!

Howard the Duck #7[2/2]
Howard the Duck and Beverly Switzler are picked up by country and western star, Dreyfus Gultch, who takes them to New York and helps them get jobs at the All-Night Party's convention as part of their presidential campaign. Howard foils an assassination attempt on their dubious candidate and spouts his opinions about the CIA which lands him the role of the All-Night Party's new presidential candidate.

The Band of the Bland are hired to assassinate Howard as the most promising presidential candidate. They accept in the hope of making a name for themselves. After getting turfed out of their hotel, Howard and Bev accidentally call on the Defenders. Doctor Strange's attempt to send Howard back to his home reality fails when the Band of the Bland interrupt the spell. Trapped in his astral form, Doctor Strange passes his abilities on to Howard who teams up with the Defenders to defeat the Band of the Bland.

Howard parts ways with the Defenders and finds he's become the number one candidate for the presidency, which also means he's made a lot of enemies. After numerous attempts on his life, Howard's candidacy is eventually sabotaged when a newspaper runs a photo of him in the bath with Bev, even though it's clearly a fake. Most people believe Howard is a little man in a duck suit, anyway.
Howard the Duck #9 (1977) 
Dreyfus Gultch convinces Howard the Duck and Beverly Switzler to investigate the character assassination of Howard that cost him the presidency; Howard learns he was sabotaged by the Canadian villain, Le Beaver.

Howard the Duck Magazine #6 (1980)
Howard returns to Duckworld (Earth-791021) along with Beverly Switzler; they decide to return to Earth when Beverly is hunted for being a freak; Ducktor Stange transports them both back to Earth-616.

Sensational She-Hulk #14-17 (1990) 
Doctor Angst and his Band of the Bland return, clashing with Howard the Duck and She-Hulk; after failing to create their own universe, the Band of the Bland disband.

Carnage: It's A Wonderful Life #1 (1996)
Band of the Bland member Black Hole ends up in the Ravencroft Institute.

Daydreamers #2-3 (1997)
Howard finds himself back on Duckworld again where he learns he's now hailed as a hero during DAYDREAMERS.
