A HOT EIGHT SECONDS (1995)

In the 1990s, many comics universes outside of the Marvel Universe attempted to create their own version of Wolverine. Hellblade was, essentially, Malibu Comics' attempt. The character was introduced in a series of short back-up features over a handful of Ultraverse titles. All four chapters were only two pages long. The first two chapters appeared in two titles each, initially, so the character's first appearance is technically in two different comics.

The short storyline would introduced this dangerous-to-know character, then immediately kill him off. It would soon be revealed that he was resurrected off-panel during the BLACK SEPTEMBER and would become a recurring character in the All New Exiles title alongside Juggernaut and a number of other Marvel refugees stranded in the Ultraverse...

Jefferson Kotto is a Miami crime lord who gained Ultra powers which make him an even more deadly killer. As Hellblade, Kotto seeks out a traitor in his ranks. But death is coming for him and a young kill will witness the whole thing...

Night Man #23[2/2] / Power of Prime #2[2/2]
Hellblade recounts the moments leading to his death when his hunt for the traitor leads him to a carnival near the Everglades. Police arrive at the scene and a shootout begins...

Power of Prime #3[2/2]
Hellblade tears his way through both cops and criminals. He's the only survivor of the conflict, though severely wounded. As he stands over the bodies, he sees a young girl who was witness to it all. In the present, he accuses someone called Danielle of being a monster, just like him...

Curse of Rune #4[2/2]
One of the cops survived and gunned Hellblade and young Danielle down. In the present, Danielle has been reborn as an adult, though she still carries the bullet hole in her chest. Hellblade also survives the experience and takes his Lost Angel Danielle under his wing, to train her to survive like him...

All New Exiles #2-4 (1995-1996)
Hellblade initially hunts the Exiles, believing them to be responsible for the devastation in Manhattan; when he becomes convinced of their innocence, Hellblade and Lost Angel join the Exiles; alongside, the Exiles, Hellblade clashes with UltraForce.

All New Exiles #9 (1996)
Lost Angel leaves the Exiles for unrevealed reasons.

UltraForce #8-9 (1996)
Hellblade is revealed to be a member of UltraForce in a possible future incarnation of the team during FUTURE SHOCK.

Ultraverse Unlimited #2 (1996)
Hellblade and his fellow Exiles help UltraForce defeat the invading Alien Elite and save Earth during LAST STAND AT GROUND ZERO.

UltraForce #13 (1996)
The remaining members of the Exiles, including Hellblade, join UltraForce during LAST STAND AT GROUND ZERO.
