Frank Miller's run on Daredevil redefined the character for decades, with Matt Murdock's life took a much darker turn. Miller first got a shot at drawing Daredevil in Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man #27-28 before taking over as penciller on DD's own title with Daredevil #158. From there, Matt would face a much more psychotic Bullseye, almost have his secret identity revealed by Ben Urich and take a severe beating from the Hulk.
When Miller became the series writer with Daredevil #168, it was a whole new ball game. He immediately introduced Elektra, pushed Bullseye further into insanity, pitted the Kingpin against DD for the first time, introduced Stick and the Hand, brought the Matt into the Punisher's line of fire for the first time and subjected him to the worst pain and misery the character had ever felt. And it was awesome! Frank Miller would leave after Daredevil #191, but it wasn't the last we'd see of him...
As always, I'd like to thank the guys over at www.chronologyproject.com which I use as a basis and work out my own continuity. Those guys have done all the heavy lifting for me.
