It may be unfair to dig at Jeph Loeb for writing this series which seems to completely misunderstand these characters, especially as he appears to be using it as his own personal therapy. I really do feel for him, but I think it's fair to warn you not to expect greatness here. Captain America's own series is the place to see the true impact of the death of Steve Rogers, and it's a much better story.

Wolverine suspects there's more to Captain America's death than it seems, despite the protests of his newest ally the Winter Soldier (Bucky Barnes). Wolverine enlists Daredevil and Doctor Strange to get him aboard the SHIELD Helicarrier and find Cap's body, but he soon reveals a secondary purpose - to get revenge on Cap's killer, Crossbones. Disgusted, Daredevil and Strange leave. Iron Man (Tony Stark) and Yellowjacket (Hank Pym) discover his presence, but allow Wolverine to leave though not before he threatens to kill Stark if he learns he had any involvement in the death of Captain America.
Fallen Son: The Death of Captain America - Avengers #1
Iron Man's Mighty Avengers stop Tiger Shark from using the Horn of Gabriel to summon giant sea-monsters. Namor the Sub-Mariner retrieves the defeated Tiger Shark and expresses his anger towards the Avengers for their recent behaviour. Wolverine breaks the news that he's seen Cap's body, confirming his death to the outlaw New Avengers who are hiding out at Doctor Strange's home. Spider-Man storms, followed by Wolverine who decides to keep an eye on him.
Fallen Son: The Death of Captain America - Captain America #1
Iron Man responds to an alert at the remains of Avengers Mansion (destroyed during AVENGERS DISASSEMBLED) and discovers Hawkeye (Clint Barton) all back from the dead and ready to confront him over Cap's death. To Clint's surprise, Tony offers him the role of Captain America, suggesting this might be the reason he's alive again. After watching Patriot and the new Hawkeye (Kate Bishop) take down Firebrand, Iron Man tries to arrest them as they're both unregistered unregistered heroes. Kate uses an EMP arrow to disable Iron Man and escape. Clint goes after them as Captain America and they talk him out of taking up the role. Clint allows them to escape again and tells Iron Man where he can stick his job.
Fallen Son: The Death of Captain America - Spider-Man #1
Spider-Man (Peter Parker) visits his Uncle Ben's grave and somehow convinces himself that Captain America's death is his fault (even though it blatantly isn't). The Rhino visits his mother's grave nearby and finds himself under attacked from a grief-stricken, enraged Spidey. Wolverine catches up with him and talks him out of being so utterly self-important.

Fallen Son: The Death of Captain America - Iron Man #1
Tony Stark only manages to give one line of a eulogy at Captain America's funeral, then walks off. Sam Wilson (aka the Falcon) gives a more impassioned speech about the melting pot that makes America great. Later, Iron Man, Yellowjacket and the Wasp take Cap's body to the Arctic where the original Avengers pulled him out of the ice way back when. Namor takes the body below the water and promises to watch over it for as long as he lives. It looks Iron Man is the only one who hasn't accepted the death of Captain America. Or his role in it.
Captain America #26 (tie-in)
Sharon Carter quits SHIELD while secretly trying to come to terms with the fact that she killed Captain America (having been reprogrammed by Doctor Faustus). The Red Skull's plans continue as Arnim Zola begins reverse engineering Doctor Doom's time-travel technology. Despite having reluctantly registered, Falcon hooks up with the New Avengers to honour Cap's memory with them. Later, he finds Bucky Barnes as the victor of a bar fight and forms a partnership with him...
