Making her debut in the obscure - but highly underrated - Joe Casey & Nick Dragotta's Vengeance mini-series, America Chavez could easily have been forgotten if she hadn't found a place among the Young Avengers in the series by Kieron Gillen & Jamie McKelvie. Since then, she's become a member of the Ultimates, West Coast Avengers and more!
Originally believed to have come from another dimension called the Utopian Parallel, the origin of America Chavez - who often refers to herself as Ms America - would reveal that she hails from Earth-616, the mainstream Marvel Universe. Aside from strength, speed, flight and invulnerability, America is able to open Star Portals that allow her to traverse the multiverse.
I'm a big fan of the character following those appearances, but haven't read much from Marvel after the 'golden period' of 1961-2015, so I'm less familiar with her more recent appearances. So a big thank you to the Marvel Chronology Project whose work has been the basis for this entry.
