Joe Quesada and Jimmy Palmiotti were given their own line of Marvel titles to refresh and modernise in 1998. Of the initial four titles, Daredevil would trump the Inhumans, the Punisher and the Black Panther as the flagship series of the Marvel Knights line. The artistic duo would join writer and filmmaker Kevin Smith to launch the series, catapulting the Man Without Fear back into the spotlight once again and make it the must-read series for the close of the decade and beyond.
Despite delays, the series went from strength-to-strength with David Mack jumping on as writer for the astounding second arc that introduced Echo and dramatically altered the life of the Kingpin. Filling the gaps left by the delays, we'd be treated to a selection of additional DD mini-series from Marvel Knights that saw him team up with Spider-Man, look back on his early days as a costumed crime-fighter and draw him back into conflict with the Hand ninja clan.
