MIDNIGHT SONS READING ORDER: The Siege (1993-1995)

Everything the RISE OF THE MIDNIGHT SONS was building up to comes to a head with SIEGE OF DARKNESS (see the event's own entry for the complete guide to that story). Promo materials announced the event would be the dawn of a new era for the Midnight Sons. Instead it signalled an end that would drag out for some time to come.

Doctor Strange joins the cast and go through some major changes. Ghost Rider is temporarily replaced by Vengeance. The Darkhold Redeemers' mission comes to a close with a surprising revelation. Morbius' efforts to control his bloodlust would... alter slightly.

The line of titles soon changed with the demise of the Nightstalkers, leaving Blade as a solo act. John Blaze went a similar route as he searched for his kids without Ghost Rider. And Vengeance took a regular slot in Marvel Comics Presents that left a lot to be desired. But with no overarching link between the titles aside from the supernatural slant, the Midnight Sons just fizzled out. The covers lost the dagger logo before the end of 1994 and the majority of the titles were cancelled. Only Doctor Strange and Ghost Rider survived into 1995's Marvel Edge line that basically lumped the characters that weren't X-Men, Avengers or Spider-Man-related as Marvel's 'darker' or 'street-level' stories.

At least the Midnight Sons lasted longer as a line than Marvel Edge.
