SUICIDE RUN (1993-1994)

SUICIDE RUN is a parody of DC's REIGN OF THE SUPERMEN and features a number of replacement Punishers showing up after Frank Castle's apparent death. To pre-warn you, it's not what you'd call an intellectual highlight in the history of one of the most dangerous men in the Marvel Universe.

The Punisher has already been in the crosshairs of the anti-vigilante group, VIGIL, but they couldn't catch the most resourceful killer of criminals in American history. When the Vigilante Infraction General Interdiction and Limitation has their funding boosted, they're up the ante on Frank Castle. Literally. But will the mob or the FBI get to him first?

Lt Taylor Blackwell of VIGIL goes rogue and decides to hunt and kill the Punisher (Frank Castle) by himself. A drug-smuggling mobster called Ballard hires Mondo Pain to protect his shipments from the Punisher. Blackwell tries to strike a deal with Mondo Pain to help him get to Frank. Instead, the Punisher manipulates Blackwell and Mondo Pain into doing his work for him - destroying the shipment and tripping over each other - while he fills Ballard with bullets and escapes before VIGIL can take him in.

Weeks later, the Punisher learns that a huge meeting of gang bosses is coming up in Manhattan Tower, not realising the gangs are setting him up. Over the next two weeks, he preps for his biggest kill yet with help from Microchip and his ex-mob informant, Mickey Fondozzi. The FBI find out about the gathering and plan to take out the mob bosses and the Punisher in one go. On the day, Frank makes his way up to the top floor of Manhattan Tower only to find himself surrounded by armed goons. Elsewhere, disenfranchised cop Lynn Michaels walks away from the force when a rapist gets a reduced sentence in court.
